Position Summary

The mission of the Digital Advertising Specialist is to research, plan, execute, and measure successful digital advertising campaigns on platforms like Google AdWords, Facebook ads, and DSPs. As an analytical thinker, and with a passion for testing and campaign optimization, the Digital Advertising Specialist will work with a diverse team of subject matter experts to deliver best-in-class advertising campaigns for B2B and e-commerce brands.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and optimize digital advertising campaigns on search engines (Google AdWords, Bing Ads, etc.), social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), multimedia channels (YouTube, Pandora, etc.) and display advertising networks.
  • Research and develop media plans that are strategically appropriate and aligned to clients’ business objectives.
  • Analyze advertising campaign data to spot trends and identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and manage A/B testing and optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in the setup of digital advertising analytics and campaign attribution models.
  • Proactively contribute ideas to improve campaign performance and client maximize return on investment.
  • Prepare campaign performance reports.
  • Assist in fielding technical or informational requests related to campaign performance or advertising platform capabilities


  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience directly managing paid search (PPC) campaigns in Google AdWords or Bing Ads.
  • Experience with the demands of a client-driven digital media agency or advertising department.
  • 4-year college degree from an accredited institution.
  • An extraordinarily high attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experiences with the Google Analytics or other web analytics platforms (Adobe, Piwik, Kissmetrics, Mixpanel, etc.).
  • Adept at working within a team and partnering across teams.
  • A passion for data and demonstrated quantitative problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Excel – the terms Vlookup & pivot table should mean something to you.
  • A cool, calm, collected and collaborative nature.

About the Program

Method Savvy seeks enthusiastic and hard-working interns to work along side our growing team to develop and deploy data-driven marketing and advertising programs. Interns will have the opportunity to grow online visibility and help build valuable marketing engines that increase website traffic and sales for a wide range of brands. During the course of the internship, you will gain an understanding of integrated digital marketing and its role in driving brand awareness, website traffic and sales.

The Method Savvy internship program is offered three times a year to allow full-time undergraduate or graduate students a peek inside a data-driven marketing agency. Interns are assigned to projects where they can apply their existing skills and learn new ones through real-world experience with actual clients. Internship offerings vary by agency need as well as semester but may include: Client Services, Account Management, Project Management, Marketing Technology, Insights and Analytics, Digital Advertising and Interactive Production.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support client priorities and project tasks
  • Participate in brainstorm sessions
  • Research
  • Draft documents, recaps, and copy for marketing assets
  • Attend internal team meetings
  • Contribute to long and short-term client and agency projects

About You

You have a strong entrepreneurial spirit with a hunger to learn everything you can about data-driven marketing. You enjoy being part of a close-knit team, but retain a willingness to think critically and work independently. You’re not afraid to take chances and are comfortable in failing, dusting yourself off and trying again. Above all, you’re passionate online marketing and have the desire to learn as much about the subject as possible.

  • Strong writer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with PowerPoint & Keynote
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Some job experience (not necessarily relevant)

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Familiarity with WordPress CMS
  • Know the basics of SEO
  • Are a decent graphic designer
  • Have good taste in music


College credit and real-world experience at a fast growing organization.

Additional Details

The Method Savvy Internship Program is offered during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters of the academic year. We require a minimum of 12-15 hours per week in our Durham, North Carolina office for interns. The specific working hours are negotiable, but must significantly overlap with office working hours. The internships are unpaid and available to full-time students only.
